June 08, 1942 Retired from Wall Street Software Married 3
Nice album site, guys.  We live in Western Colorado and like to recreate here and near Moab with our ATVs.  I shoot and hunt a lot.
Still have the TR3 some of you saw after we graduated.

My early work was college finance teaching at U-Neb, WSC-Gunnison, Oregon, U-Conn.  The off to Aetna where I designed investment vehicles including what was maybe the first derivative in 1978.

Michele and I were married in 97.  I had retired in '89 after selling my mortgage backed security software and consulting business to Thompson-Reuters.  We met in the Washington San Juans, and have a home in Oak Harbor...yet.

I am part of the Hales Corners group that was at WHS for 2 years, and regret that we didn't get to know folks as well because we had to board the damn bus 12 minutes after class.

Even now, our group usually schedules its own 1956 Grade School dinner during one of the WHS events.

We have 9 grandchildren.  Here is a composite of Michele and I...we didn't have a photographer to take the photo.  If you are out this way, say hi....we are near the Black Canyon.

March 09, 1942 retired Widowed 1
After graduating from Waukesha South, I attended the University of Wisconsin, Madison, graduating with a major in speech pathology and audiology. I married my first husband in 1964, and after working in Wisconsin, we moved to Cambridge, MA, where my husband attended the MBA program at Harvard Business School, and I continued working in speech pathology in the public schools.   We then moved to upstate New York, IBM territory, where I continued teaching and then had our daughter, Kristi in 1970.  About 5 years after the breakup of my marriage, Kristi and I moved to Madison so that I could finish my master's degree.  I have since worked in network marketing and marketed and taught a self-esteem program.

In 1990, I married Commander Richard E. Van Houten, USNSC, retired.  In 1994 after his retirement from the State of Wisconsin and Alliant Energy Corporation, we enjoyed several years vacationing and going on cruises.  I enjoy traveling, mostly to a location overlooking the ocean or being on the ocean in a cruise ship, maybe because my name Doris comes from the Sea Goddess, Eldora, and my birth sign is Pieces.  Unfortunately, after 7 years of suffering from a heart condition and dementia/alzheimers, my husband passed away on April 25, 2010.

I enjoy visiting my family in Seattle, going on cruises, my friends call me "The Cruise Queen," working out, lap swimming, ballroom dancing, even though in 1962, I dislocated my left knee while dancing the twist 3 hours straight at a fraternity party, dining out, and attending the symphony and other performances at our Overature Center.  I also attend functions at the University since I am a member of the Wisconsin Alumnai Association, The University Club, and The Wisconsin Union.  I am a former board member of my church and in 2008 was ordained.  I consider myself not to be religious but spiritually focused and am a teacher, speaker, and writer.  On the other hand, in order to stretch out of my comfort zone, I have sat on the back of friend's motorcycles and understand why dogs like to stick their heads out of car windows!

July 01, 1942 Office/HR Manager Single Again 2
A quick overview of where I've been since 1960:  Following college, I taught junior high school in Connecticut, spent a year in Wilmington, Delaware and then returned to the Chicago area where I raised two sons and was involved in a lot of church and volunteer work.  My career path has included 13 years as the Presbytery of Chicago's business person and HR work with several law firms in Chicago and Denver; I am currently very pleased to be back in the not for profit world, working with Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver.

I moved to Colorado in the summer of 1999 to be closer to my younger son and his family.  The picture shows me with Lukas who is nearly 9 and Sabina who will be 6 in a few weeks.  I am living in the mountains about an hour south and west of Denver, sharing space with lots of animals, enjoying views of two 13,000 foot peaks from my front windows and almost ready to give up trying to garden in dirt which is just ground up rocks and in competition with the above mentionned animals.  My older son is married and living in San Francisco -- another wonderful place to visit.  Family and friends play central parts in my life.

To the reunion committee:  thanks very much for the work you're doing!  It will be fun to watch this website during the next months.

June 30, 1942 Married 2
Two days before the reunion weekend, and I'm finally putting some info on this site.  Actually, my wife, Jean, the professional procrastinator--the never do today what you can put off until tomorrow champion--decided it was time.

My wife and I are both Waukesha natives.  Jean graduated from WHS in 1962. After leaving Waukesha, I attended school in Madison and Whitewater. Following our marriage, Jean and I lived in Lake Geneva for 39 years. I worked for Trostels in various capacities--cost accountant, office manager, manager of the leather division, vice-president of the urethane division, sales manager of castable urethane products--for those 39 years.  Seven months before I planned to take early retirement, I suffered a stroke and had to quit working.

Six years ago we moved to Waupaca, where we have a home on the Crystal River.

Jean and I have 2 sons, Marc and Michael and a 4 year old grandson, Jacob. We have been able to do some traveling within the states and try to make several trips each year to Cape Girardeau, MO to see Jacob.

How can it be possible that 50 years have gone by since we graduated?  I am looking forward to the reunion and am happy to see that so many classmates are planning on attending.  This website is a wonderful idea and way to begin re-connecting with people ahead of time.  I hope that the website can continue to be updated after the reunion.   I know none of us have changed in 50 years, but it might be fun (and helpful) to have our HS photo on our name tags.   Send Mary Lee a MessageSend Mary Lee a Message

February 23, 1942 Retired Committed Relationship
So, where does 50 years go?  I retired 5 years ago after working for the State of WA Employment Security Dept.  I moved to WA in 1967 and have been here long enough to have webs between my toes.
I have been fortunate to travel all over the world during the last 30years and have also been active in local theater groups in Waukesha and Bremerton since graduating from College.  I have done every thing in the theater except direct--only a true masochist would do that-- but acting is the most fun, and I have been fortunate to win some local acting awards.
Since retiring, I have kept traveling, acting, and started taking piano lessons again after a 50 year break --I'm not very good, but having a wonderful time, Most mornings I can be found at the YMCA  working out and trying to keep everything working for another 50 years.
